Yet Another Soprano's Finale Analysis...
...but I can't quit thinking about it.
I suppose I should give a SPOILER ALERT here.
This one is worth the time. This guy has a fresh take on this masterpiece of television and sees things I missed, including:
- The Last Supper Shot
- Communion wafers
- The bells
- Another orange cat
- Even a really obvious coffin shot, that I had overlooked
I can't understand why some people don't like this ending...
It's perfection.
AND check this weirdness I found else where on the internets...
The "Guy in the Member's Only Jacket" -- whom I'm convinced is the trigger man, who wacks tony, is supposedly a first-time actor, Paolo Colandrea, a 47-year-old owner of a pizza joint in Penndel, Pa. He was shown going to the bathroom — a way station of assassination to fans of "The Godfather."
In the credits, he's listed like this:
MAN IN MEMBERS ONLY JACKET - PAOLO COLANDREA
Weird wording, right? Rearrange the letters and you get:
A MAN KILLS TONY CARMELA AJ - DON BECOME PRONE
Chills, right?
Note: "Members Only" is also the name of the Sopranos episode where Uncle Junior shoots Tony.
What about the other suspicious characters in the diner? Others are seeing a connection between them and previous episodes :
- Cub Scouts -- they were in the model-train store when Bobby was shot last week.
- The guy in the USA hat was the brother of the guy who was robbed by Christopher in Season 2 (the DVD players). this guy was the one who identified the body.
- The two African-American guys tried to wack Tony in an earlier episode, but only clipped him in the ear.
The New York Times claims that the guy in the Members Only Jacket was Nikki Leotardo, despite what his credit said. So that's an interesting twist. quoting from elsewhere:
Nikki Leotardo. The same actor played him in the first part of season 6 during a brief sit down concerning the future of Vito. That wasn't that long ago. Apparently, he is the nephew of Phil. Phil's brother Nikki Senior was killed in 1976 in a car accident.
HBO denies that any of these extras appear anywhere else in the series, including the Man in the Members Only Jacket, whom they claim is really Paolo Colandrea.
I believe HBO. However, it is interesting that these actors so closely resemble the previous extras, that fans are connecting them to. Can't be an accident.

Bobby Baccala: I mean, yeah, our line of work, it's always out there. You
probably don't even hear it when it happens, right?
Tony: Ask your friend in there, on the wall. [He's talking about
Bobby's stuffed deer head, I think.]
